Top Three Thursday: Places to Read!

Sorry today's post is up so late! Spent all night prettying up the books on my shelf.

How pretty are they, you might ask? Please, do stare:

This is just the tops one's, but aren't they lovely? I just sit and stare all the time.

Anyway, today I want to talk about my Top Three places to read!

                     1. In my room

Preferably buried underneath ten blankets on my bed with music playing or in silence. Though honestly my number one time to read is right before I go to sleep.

                     2. In the car

Because my family usually has the radio on or they're talking, so it's the perfect time for me to slip away and knock out a chapter or so.

                      3. Anywhere and everywhere

I couldn't even come up for a third one.

I can literally read anywhere. I don't really need any specific setting.

I've read walking down sidewalks or in the car or in a crowded room or alone with only a book light.

I know people that must be alone, must have silence, must not be interrupted, ect, and this is fine, though I can not pretend to relate to people that are like this.

It might be because I spent my whole life with two older, noisy siblings and just grew up learning how to tune out the chaos around me, or maybe it's just because I can easily focus on one thing, or maybe all of the books I read are just so good that it doesn't matter if the world is falling apart, I still couldn't put it down!

Whatever it may be, I always carry a book with me--not just because it makes me feel safer and more comfortable, but also because if there a pause in my day, out comes the book to read a page or two.

What about you? Do you need to be in silence? Or can you be in a crowd of people and still get int he zone of another world?

Thanks for reading, and check back Saturday for a book review of "The Evolution of Mara Dyer", by Michelle Hodkin!

Top Three Thursday: Books I Didn't Enjoy, and Why!

So today's subject is a tricky one, considering if I could I would deeply love any and every book ever.

Before I list my Top Three least favorite books, I need to write a disclaimer:

I do not hate any book. I can not see many good qualities in it, I can be confused and angry and bitter after finishing a book, but in no way do I regret reading it.

Not only because, as a writer, I think it's valuable to read books you dislike to note what you DON'T like in books. It's very important, maybe even more so than reading books and finding out what you DO like.

But also because, as a writer and an avid reader both, I believe that any idea is a good idea.

Who am I to say that this authors idea wasn't a good one? Who am I to say that anyone who actually likes this book is wrong? I don't believe in judging, in any way, and I would never want to offend the author or the reader. Ever.

I don't like squabbling over what's good or what's not, but I'm also really grateful, in reviews, when they also touch on the worse parts, as well as the good.

So, here goes, and take my opinions just as they are--just expressions of thought.

          1. Across the Universe, by Beth Revis

On my list of books that I didn't fully enjoy, this has to be number one, sadly.

As I state in my review HERE, I was really terribly excited for this book. I ordered it along with The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, and read this one first. I was... Pretty disappointed.

Let me make it clear that this was literally the first Sci-Fi book I've ever read, and I haven't read one since because this one left me with a really bad feeling. It was disturbing and boring and it was hard to find things to like about it. I really wanted to like this one, too, which is the worst part of it, because I knew that so many people did.

Alas, it simply wasn't the book for me, and until I read more Sci-Fi-, I can't say if it's the whole genre that I don't really like.

          2. Eleanor and Park, by Rainbow Rowell

You're shocked, aren't you?

But, sadly, it's true. I just seriously didn't enjoy this book.

You can read my full review and reasons HERE, but for a brief summary:

I didn't get the connection I was supposed to from the characters. The feel of the book was way off, and I tried to love it but it was very hard.

There's supposed to be a movie? What? I really can't imagine this making a really great movie, honestly. I know that lots of people love this book, but safe to say that it wasn't for me, so I will likely not be going to see it. But who knows, maybe they'll make it awesome?

        3. Pegasus: The Flame of Olympus, by Kate O'Hearn

This one is actually a MG book, but that's really not any reason why I couldn't have absolutely loved it.

I've read many MG books that have blown me away, and still today they are some of my absolute favorites, but this one was so incredibly flat and boring and ultimately nothing special.

I bought it because of all of the Rick Riordan fans screaming about it from the rooftops. This was when I didn't have much to read (HA.), and I was so sure I would love it I dived right in.

Little did I know, I was diving off a building headed straight for concrete.

There are many other books in this series, and I don't really know how many, but I won't be reading the rest, sadly. Besides, this first one ended so wrapped up and happy, you'd think it was a Disney movie or something, rather than the start of a series.

You can read the little I wrote about it HERE, but overall it was a huge let-down--especially after being so fondly compared to Percy Jackson.

So there are my top three, and really my ONLY three, because I love every other book I've read!

Don't hate me now, okay?

Have you ever read a book you didn't like? What was it? Have you read any of these?

Thanks for reading, and meet me back

Top Three Thursday: Genres!

Hello lovelies!

I'm back with new posts and new enthusiasm and TONS OF NEW SECRETS to be revealed within time.

Spoilerrsssss...

Hemhem.

Today I'm going to tell you about my Top Three favorite genres to write in!

Until recently I never really had the need to put my books into different genres, because to me I was only ever writing a story and I didn't care if it would be considered a MG or a YA or a Fantasy or a Thriller. I wrote the story my characters had to tell, and the rest wasn't important.

But, of course, I've lately had to really think about the categories and age groups my books would be put into with the view of publishing that will be happening in the later future.

For Editing and Revising and such, I've really had to get into the right mindset for who my readers will be, so that will make this list a bit easier to create.

           1. Romance

Okay.

When I first thought about it and realized that I mainly wrote YA Romance, I almost threw up, because this is DEFINITIVELY not what I ever imagined myself writing. But though there is so much more to the stories I've written, the main theme is a love story.

Either between two characters or the character and their power or the character and a villain--my stories  would be considered to have a big touch of Romance, whether I intended to or not.

Though it's truly not very surprising considering when I was little I was all about true love and riding into the sunset to live in a big fairy tale castle.

I guess I never really outgrew it.

         2. Fantasy

I think that really I mainly write Fantasy Romance, if that's a thing, but it feels weird to separate them considering I don't strictly write one or the other.

I like using Supernatural/Magical elements in my stories, from Ghost to Dragons, but I absolutely hate the standard basics.

I make them my own because I believe the world's to small to be full of the same ideas repeated over and over, right?

         3. Realistic

That last on tho.

Wow.

This didn't happen until recently, actually--I'd had many, MANY ideas for ideas set on Earth, with no magic elements. I have a ton of little plot bunnies, but none of them really grew into a fluffy rabbit of plot twists.

But this April's Camp NaNoWriMo Novel did, and it carried me to 50k words, and it's still not finished.

It has a plot and characters and I was shocked to find how much I loved writing in a modern day setting, because this is a first for me.

I found that instead of having, say, Dragons and Ghosts, I put the Magic into the words instead of into the plot. It's been neat to try something new.

It's also gotten me wanting to try a few other genres, though really I believe I dabble in many things.

Stories can, even in a single book, range from Sci-Fi to Mystery to Comedy to Adventure to Tragedy to Action. I think the best stories are a mix of many things--too big and too great to be defined by one measly little category.

What about you? What Genres do you enjoy writing in?

Thanks for reading!

Top Three Thursday: Gifts for Writers!

An honor of my Birthday that just passed on April 22nd, I've decided this weeks Top Three Thursday will be about Gifts for Writers!

Now, everyone loves presents, topped with bows and heaps of love (Unless you're one of those people that give gifts out of obligation. Then it's heaped with hatred or poison, but it's just as well.).

Those who know you better, such as best friends or family, will know you inside and out and will instinctively get you the most perfect gift ever.

But what about those who don't know you as well?

They know you're a writer.

But still--what do you buy a writer?

We are sad, strange little beings with entire worlds in our heads. Do you get them a mental help? Do you get them a Unicorn?  (The answer to that last one is yes. Yes. Get them a Unicorn.)

I'll list my personal Top Three suggestions down below on MY ideal gift!

            1. Books!

It's pretty obvious, isn't it? Writers read, so getting them a book is a pretty safe area.

But what kind of book?

You might check out their To-Read Goodreads page to see what books they have and don't have, want desperately or will-get-to-it-someday. You might ask people they're close to to stalk their shelves to see if it's there.

And, worse case, if you can't figure out what book to get them, just get them a helpful Book-On-Writing. Some of my favorites are listed over HERE, so that may be a good place to start!

         2. Writing Tools!

Get them a cool pencil, a notebook with kittens on it, a sketchbook to create timelines on!

I know that I can never have too many pencils/pens/ect, and I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Or get them some Writing themed gifts, such as a T-Shirt or picture! One of the best places for Writerly gifts can be found HERE!

       3. Something Fluffy!

And by this, I don't mean you have to go out and buy them a pet cat (Thought that would be appreciated).

I mean get them a stuffed animal--a cat, a bunny, a teddy bear. Writers are very lonely people, spending hours at a time locked away in their bedroom in front of a blank page, and it's always helpful to have a fuzzy little friend to hug when we're getting stressed out, to tell all of our plot lines to, or, on occasion, to throw across the room when we see a horrible plot hole.

I know that I like to write surrounded by little fluffy friends and, again, I'm sure I'm not the only one!

...Right?

So there are my Top Three suggestions on Gifts for Writers!

Now go out and share some love with the Writer in your life, and go out and buy some of these things for yourself! You deserve it!

What do you think is a good gift for a writer? Do you agree with any of these?

Thanks for reading!

Top Three Thursday: Upcoming Book to Movie Adaptations!

Yes you read the title right:

This Thursday we're going to talk about the soon-to-be Book to Movie adaptations that, personally, I am most excited for!

So--something really great is that a lot of my FAVORITE books have been bought for Film, and, though most of the time nothing much comes out of that, a lot of them are LEGIT going to the big screen, and I am so incredibly excited!

I'm so proud, I guess the word is, for all of these books that I've discovered months or years ago to find out that the awesomeness will be spread over the world.

I'm not one of those people who are all caught up on "I read the books first so I'm a better fan than you!"

...These people annoy me. Legit.

Like--good for you! You read a book before the film rights were purchased. Congratulations. You win absolutely nothing. Have a nice life.

I think that Book to Movie adaptations are great--they open up the great book for people who might normally never hear about it.

If you want to read a book because you saw an awesome Trailer?

Great. I have total respect for you.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to read a book because there's a movie coming out soon. Sure, those who read the book before the promise of a film came along will get something bigger and better out of it, but I still think the love for a certain story can be equal, whether you read it because you saw it on a shelf years ago, or because you saw your favorite actor was starring in it last month.

Really. It's okay.

I think readers really get their thoughts twisted about this. Reading is for everyone, no matter HOW you heard of the book, and no matter HOW long ago you read it. We all love the story and the characters, and that's what matters, so just calm down, okay?

There are a TON of YA books with a big/not so big chance of becoming an actual movie, so here goes!:

           1. Unremembered, by Jessica Brody!

YES. THIS. YES.

I have been a huge Brody fan ever since I read Unremembered, and that only increased with the second book, Unforgotten. I got to meet her during one of the Fierce Reads Tour stops, and I simply adored her!

She is absolutely brilliant in all ways and I am just so proud of her and this story!

All that's happened with this, that I know of, is that it was acquired by two Producers, but they're currently building up a bunch of hype for the movie, so make sure to check them out at the links below and spread the Unremembered love!

Find Unremembered the Movie on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr!

          2. Shadow and Bone, by Leigh Bardugo!

AGH AGAIN YES THIS.

Shadow and Bone is one of my favorites (But what isn't?), and, again, I got to meet miss Bardugo at a Fierce Reads event.

This one was sold to DreamWorks, and the producer of Harry potter is involved in it?

Uhm... Yes???

           3. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, by Ransom Riggs!

I sadly have no gotten the second book, but it is most CERTAINLY on my list of books that I desperately need.

I have, however, finished book one and loved it to death. It was beautiful and real and came with a huge impact.

Literally all I know about this becoming a movie is that it's supposed to be directed by Tim Burton.

Oh-my to the freaking sweet-goodness.

When I heard this was supposed to be a movie, I was very skeptical, because part of the story in this book is the old photographs in it, so I thought that whoever was creating this film had to be extremely creative to make it awesome.

And then I found out it was Tim Burton.

And all bets were off.

I danced around the house.

SO those re my Top Three, but there are still plenty more I'm excited about, such as:

  • The Raven Boys, by Maggie Stiefvater (I'm not sure where the progress is on this one, but last I heard they're looking for a screenwriter.)
  • Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi (Optioned for film by 20th Century Fox. I read that there's still a ton of work to be done before this can actually be made into a movie, but STILL!)
  • The Daughter of Smoke and Bone, by Laini Taylor (I will be reading this book extremely soon because I've heard so many great things about it, and all I know about the film is that it has a director.)
  • The Maze Runner, by James Dashner (Again, I have NOT read this book, but I'll be reading it as soon as I can find a copy of it because it's awesome. This movie will be in theaters September 19th of this year!
Bonus: Dylan O'Brian stars in it. I'm watching it.)
  • If I Stay, by Gayle Forman (I've read Just One Day by Forman, but this week I'm stopping by the library to marathon read all of her books. The movie will be in theaters August 22nd 2014.
Bonus: Have you SEEN the Trailer? OH. MY. Click HERE to go watch it, because holy flaming sweet potatoes, Batman.)
  • Vampire Academy, by Richelle Mead (I literally just reading this book two nights ago, and I'll be finishing up the second and third one within the next few days. I didn't go see the movie in Theaters because I hadn't read the book then, so I'm impatiently waiting for it to release on DVD May 20th!)
  • The School for Good and Evil, by Soman Chainani (Universal Pictures acquired the rights to this one, and Chainani himself is in the process of working on a screenplay! SO excited for this one.)

So this is just my measly little list, and, again, most of these movies may or may not actual get to the big screen.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I am DYING for all of these to get through all of the trials of actually making a film, but a lot of things don't work out. So all of us Fangirls and Fanboys will just have to keep our fingers crossed and sit and wait, won't we?

What Book to Movie adaptations are YOU excited for? Share in the comments!

Thanks for joining me for this weeks Top Three Thursday, and make sure to check back this Saturday for a Review of Eleanor and Park, by Rainbow Rowell!

Top Three Thursday: Motivational Quotes!

Kay, kay, kay, here on time to deliver the newest Top Three Thursday!

Here we go...

Favorite Motivational Quotes for writing guys!

           1. Favorite Writing Quote Number One:
"If I waited for perfection, I would never write a word." - Margaret Atwood

I really love this quote, and live by it daily. Everyone says writing is hard--they say they can't do it right, they say they they can't find the right words, they say no one would understand it or it's not good enough and not interesting enough.

They say writing is a difficult challenge that they could never accomplish.

But writing is only hard if you are waiting for perfection.

If you're trying to get these perfect, magical words to flow out of you the first time you sit down at a blank page?

It won't happen. You won't write a single word.

Only you are putting pressure on yourself to be perfect--first drafts don't need to be perfect, just written.

So get the sloppy, lame words down that don't hold any logic at all, and save the rest for editing. Just write it and have fun!

           2. Favorite Writing Quote Number Two:
"I wrote my first novel because I wanted to read it." - Toni Morrison

Another quote I really really love.

When you're writing a novel?

You don't have to know everything!

All you have to do is use your own two hands to write down words. Yes--look for inspiration, plot it out, plan, brainstorm. Have fun with it and go on new adventures. Jot down ideas and create plot twists.

But if your characters don't surprise you at least once, you're not doing it right. If something, SOMEWHERE in the story doesn't shock you, if something unexpected down't happen, then you're putting too much pressure on yourself.

In a way, you're just another reader. You're telling the story, but you're also simply going along with your characters to distant lands.

So sit back sometimes and clear your mind--watch what happens!

         3. Favorite Writing Quote Number Two:
"Keep your head in the clouds and your hands on the keyboard." - Marissa Meyer

This last on is from one of my favorite authors, Marissa Meyer!

I absolutely love this one, because I think it accurately captures the way a writer thinks. It's so perfect.

Because I can never just stick with the top three, below I'll list a few of my other favorites!

  • "Three paragraphs a day, keeps the writer's block away." - Unknown

  • "Whether or not you write well, write bravely." - Bill Stout

  • "Don't tell me the moon is shining; Show me the glint on the broken glass." - Anton Chekhov

  • "Write the book you want to read." - Unknown

  • "A writer never has a vacation. For a writer a life consists of either writing or think about writing." - Augene Ionesco
(I'm not like entirely certain if these are the proper names these quotes are by, and where they are marked unknown that is just because I couldn't find who originally said them. So don't kill me if one of these are wrong!)

Do you have any favorite quotes? Which do you try to live by?

Thanks for reading!

Top Three Thursday: Favorite TV Shows!

Uhm, okay, geez, this post is quite a bit behind because I got home incredibly late.

But like we found a lost puppy, so that's like the best excuse ever, right?

Anyway:

Looking for some awesome new TV Shows to get addicted to?

This is the post for you!

I'm going to list my Top Three favorite obsessions that show on the Television, 1st being my absolute favorite.

Let's get to it!:

1.Favorite TV Show Number One: Teen Wolf

Yes yes yes I know don't hate me!

Some people absolutely hate this show or absolutely love it and I, obviously, am one of the latter.

This is my own little show that I consider a bit of a guilty pleasure--it makes me laugh and makes me cry and I adore the characters like nobodies business. I just finished Part One of Season Three, and I'm dying for Part Two!

I highly recommend this show if you like cute, funny TV Shows. Once you get past the first few episodes, you won't be able to stop. I couldn't, anyway, though I didn't want to.

2.Favorite TV Show Number Two: Sherlock

              Of course!

Sherlock is just almost even with Teen Wolf, because I love it with that much of a burning passion.

I adore Sherlock Holmes, and this show is like a dream come true for me. I love absolutely everything about it, basically.

GO WATCH IT NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T.

3.Favorite TV Show Number Three: Supernatural

This was a really hard one.

I have so many other's but Supernatural just has to take the spot of Number Three.

I'm not a big fan of creepy stuff--like AT ALL--but with the support of my mom and my sister, and watching the super creepy ones in the daytime, I fell swiftly in love with the characters and the idea of the stories in each season. I find my similarities to Dean a little ridiculous, but I'm proud of it, okay?

And so there are my top three.

Already seen these, or they don't sound interesting?

Fine, I shall make a list below of my other obsessions, because I have a TON:

  • Doctor Who (Like who isn't?)
  • Psych (This is a really hilarious show that I lovez!)
  • Merlin (Ah, Merlin! I miss this show.)
  • SmallVille (Haven't finished all of the Seasons, but I love it!)
  • My Little Pony (Don't judge okay it's rude.)
  • Shugo Chara (Some epic Anime Show you've probably never ever heard of.)
  • Clannad (Another one of those Anime Show's you've never heard of. Fetch the tissues, for this one.)
  • Robin Hood (Gah, I loved this show!)
  • Once Upon a Time (I've recently fallen behind, but I hope to catch back up soon!)

And I know there must be more, but this is all I can think of at the moment!

Have you watched any of these shows? Oh my gosh let's totally jump up and down in the Comments!

Quick Camp NaNoWriMo Update!: I've decided what I'm going to write a day late, but still plenty of time, right?

I'm so excited to dive in deep with this book!

How are you doing so far?

Thanks for reading, and have a great Thursday!

Top Three Thursday!.. Almost...

Hello, Love's!

I'm here for your latest Top Three Thursday! ...Er, I'm a bit late, but it's been a super busy day, and you all have big imaginations, don't you? Good, so let's just pretend it's still Thursday... Hemhem.

This week I'll tell you my Top Three favorite books on writing!

These are books that I find most helpful on all things Writerly, and I'll leave the Links to them all as well so you can check them out yourself!

        1. A Novel Idea; Best Advice on Writing Inspirational Fiction. There are many epic authors featured int his book, so it's not solely written by ONE person, and that's one of the things I absolutely love about this book. You can see so many different opinions and advice by so many wonderful writers!

This book is my first and favorite Go-To book for all things Writerly--it touches on literally everything, from the basics of plot, characters, dialogue, pacing, ect, to grammar, publishing and marketing. It's full of easy-to-read chapters and so much priceless information and inspiration. I've learned so much from this book, and have re-read it multiple times over!

         2.  The Emotion Thesaurus, by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi.

This book is exactly what it sounds like--a big book containing physical, emotional, mental responses and actions and thoughts to literally every single emotion you can possibly think of. Each page goes over a different emotion--such as Anger, Grief, Love, ect-- in such a quick and easy way. It's almost a cheat sheet, of sorts, for authors, and I look to this book for all of my quick needs, whether it be a description or a feeling, ect.

          3. The Creative Writer's Phrase-Finder, by Edward Prestwood.

This book is, in a small way, a bit like the Emotional Thesaurus, except instead of emotions, this book focuses more on physical elements. It's packed with pages full of descriptions and phrases--legit, it covers every single topic. It has phrases on faces and eyes and perfumes, and also landscapes, houses, thinking, voice, behavior, names, and a ton more categories, each with multiple prompts/descriptions on that topic.

It's a really handy book to get you going on something you can't quite describe, and gets your imagination flowing effortlessly.

So there you have it! There's my Top Three favorite books on writing!

What's your favorite Writing books? Have you ever heard of any of these?

Thank you for reading, and make sure to check back in a few days for something special!

Top Three Thursday: Words!

This week on Top Three Thursday, I'm going to tell you my top three favorite words!

This is based solely off of the meaning of the word, not necessarily how it sounds, how it looks, ect. Words are my favorite thing ever (Obviously.), so this is quite hard narrowing it down to just three!

         1. Favorite Word Number One: Disheveled.

di·shev·eled

  [dih-shev-uhld]
adjective
1.
hanging loosely or in disorder; unkempt: disheveled hair.
2.
untidy; disarranged: a disheveled appearance.

(Meaning taken from Dictionary.com.)

So I know what you're thinking--that meaning doesn't sound very... Clean. But anytime I use it, it's in reference to one of my characters (Mostly male.), and frankly I find it the most attractive word in existence.

Use it in the context of clothing style, hair, or all around appearance and, to me, it adds this rough, interesting quality to any character.

I'm weird, but this word is my favorite descriptive word.

      2. Favorite Word Number Two: Saunter

saun·ter

  [sawn-ter, sahn-]
verb (used without object)
1.

noun
2.
a leisurely walk or ramble; stroll.
3.
a leisurely gait.

(Meaning taken from Dictionary.com.)

So I really don't have any idea as to why I like this word other than the fact that I just do. It gives the idea of confidence and gives character, or even gives off a vibe of arrogance.

It's a very expressive way to show what kind of person your character is if they saunter everywhere!

      3. Favorite Word Number Three: Classy

class·y

  [klas-ee, klah-see]
adjective, class·i·er, class·i·est. Informal.
of high classrank, or grade; stylish; admirably smart; elegant.

        (Meaning taken from Dictionary.com.)

Another word I absolutely adore. Anything the can be described as this, chances are I'll love, whether it be characters, clothes, houses, art, people, ect. It gives me an old fashioned feeling, and I think it's a brilliant word.

So there are my Top Three favorite words!

"Here I am, late at night, studiously sipping Coffee and contemplating the rating that shall be chosen for this book.

I choose...

Five stars.

Going into this book, I honestly had no idea what to expect. I read the description and had a few bookish friends going crazy about it, so I finally decided to buy it while I was at a bookstore.

I don't regret it one bit.

I've found that many people who've read this beautiful book, and were very disappointed. Not because the plot was slow or boring, or the characters were flat, or the writing was horrible, because I can assure you NONE of those are remotely true--it was, instead, the fact that most people picked up this book expecting a terrifying thriller Novel that they read with the lights on.

Though this book does have some parts that were freakish and 'peculiar', nothing made me shiver and have nightmares all night. (And this is coming from a girl who is scared of basically everything.)

I think that that made it all the better, though--that in the beginning it's all freaky and disturbing, but you slowly begin to question further in that perhaps these things aren't as scary as they originally seemed?

It's a neat concept to me.

Now, the story is told by Jacob's POV, first person, and he is really a wonderful hero to our story. Usually this sort of character I'm not very interested in at all, but somehow I fell in love with Jacob from the very start.

He's by far one of the most realistic, understandable main character I've ever read.

The supporting characters were absolutely brilliant:

Emma is strong and fun and a wonderful leading lady for our story, full of fire (Punny!) and kindness. I really liked her. Bunches.

My other favorite character, besides Emma and Jacob, is most certainly Millard. Seriously, I love the guy.

The theme of the story is haunting and mysterious and wonderful. The plot is thrilling and I flew by the pages in no time. The characters are each very real and unique and I have major respect for that.

All in all, it's a fantastic book, but I won't be telling you anymore because I walked into it blind, so I think you should too! It makes it all the better!"

Top Three Thursday: Books!

I'm here with another Top Three Thursday!

Today I'm going to list my Top Three favorite Books, so this should be incredibly difficult, but let's see what happens, shall we?

Now, you guys obviously know I read like nobodies business. If I don't constantly have a book in my hand, you know I'm crying on the inside. I love books. I love reading. I just. Words.

Anyway, I read, A LOT, and I've loved every single book I've ever read in one way or another (Except for that ONE book, but I don't like to think about that.).

So I'll begin, book Number One being the absolute favorite, the second being the second, ect. You get the idea.:

  1. Favorite Book Number One: The Darkest Minds, by Alexandra Bracken.
Let me explain to a thing about this book.

It's awesome. I honestly love it, but until I found myself writing it above, I had never realized it was my FAVORITE favorite book, but, now that I wrote it, I find that it's true.

I seriously love this book.

(You can read my ridiculously fangirling Review on GoodReads HERE. Add it to your To-Read Shelf while you're at it!)

     2. Favorite Book Number Two: Clockwork Princess, by Cassandra Clare.

         You knew it was coming.

I adore this book in  terribly unhealthy way, but I have no shame over it what-so-ever.

I love the first two with all of my heart, but the third and final one owns a very special place.

(This is also the book that I finished reading at five in the morning and cried into my pillow for a few hours and then stared out the window all hollow like watching the sun rise because I had soaked my pillow through and my brain was melting.)

So if you haven't already discovered the world of Shadow Hunters, you really must. MUST I SAY!

     3. Favorite Book Number Three: Cress, by Marissa Meyer.

Alright, so this was a hard one.

I absolutely love all of the books in this series, but the third and newest one, Cress, takes the prize.

Not only has Cress become one of my favorite characters of all time, but her and Captain Thorne might just be my favorite Fictional pairing like EVER.

I love all of Marissa Meyers books, and am proud to say I'm a total Lunartic

So, there are my Top Three favorite Books!

Just know that this was very hard to choose!

What's YOUR Top Three favorite Books? Have you ever read any of these?

Top Three Favorite Authors

Okay so hey I've been a pretty terrible Blogger recently but let's all just pretend that I've been following my own schedule perfectly and that i have nothing to be ashamed of and.

Well I've just been incredibly busy, alright?

I'm going through a lot of stuff, most of it insanely good (One of the 'stuffs' being my Grandparents are finally here, and also I just reached 100,000 words on my FORSAKEN draft which is officially the longest book I've written ever.), and some of it not so good (such as the fact I still have no new ideas for my next book series but we won't talk about that because it gets me a bit: *explodes*), and, as it naturally goes, Blogging was put to the side because I consider this sort of just a hobby until I can figure out how to properly balance it with everything else I need to do in my day.

So, anyway, today is Top Three Thursday, which means I get to tell you my top three favorites of a random subject! I choose...

Top Three Favorite Authors!

Oh, this is a hard one! If I like a book, chances are I LOVE the author, and, if you haven't already found out, I like a lot of books! I guess I'll do my best!

This one was pretty easy, because she has been a personal favorite of mine for a LONG time.
Why is she my favorite, you might ask? Because, she writes some of the stories I love most, and she's an exceptional writer. She's also a fabulous person who always makes me laugh, and always teaches me something. She's really just a wonderful person who just happens to write wonderful books!
(I also met her in person and we basically talked for two solid hours and it was basically the best two hours like ever.)

Okay, so let me explain to you a thing about Mr. James Riley, here.
He is the funniest, most sarcastic author I have ever had the pleasure of stumbling upon. His books are witty and smart and brilliant, and the best part is that I would recognize his writing anywhere, because he himself is such a hilarious person. Just to give you a little take of what he's like, I firmly believe that if he and Rick Riordan were in a room together, it would be a legit question of who was the ultimate Sass-Master.
(I haven't met James Riley and this greatly upsets me because seriously it's on my bucket list.)

Ms. Leigh Bardugo is a very special author to me, and, you know, I'm not entirely certain why.
I mean, I know why--I follow her blog and I've read all of her books, and I've always just considered her one of my all time favorites without even picking it apart to find out the facts. Because I can't. Cause it's just literally the fact that I love her writing, and she's my favorite. The end.
(I've met her and she's as awesome as she sounds. Seriously.)

See, now, looking at the three I chose, I'm still so conflicted. Because I have a huge amount of love for so many other brilliant authors.

So much love, in fact, that I'm going to make a list of them all below and, if you feel you want to (which you should.), you may browse through and see some of my fabulous recommendations:

Cassandra Clare (Author of the Infernal Devices and the Mortal Instruments and more.)

Rick Riordan (Author of the Percy Jackson books and the Kane Chronicles.)

Jessica Brody (Author of the Unremembered books and more.)

Marissa Meyer  (Author of the Lunar Chronicles.)

Marissa Burt  (Author of the StoryBound books.)

Alexandra Bracken  (Author of the Darkest Minds books.)

Anna Banks  (Author of the Syrena Legacy.)

Soman Chainani  (Author of the School for Good and Evil.)

Cornelia Funke   (Author of the InkHeart books and more.)

Lisa McMann  (Author of the Unwanteds books and more,)

J.K. Rowling  (Author of the Harry Potter books.)

Brandon Mull (Author of the Beyonders books and more.)

Charles Dickens (Author of  A Tale of Two Cities and more.)

Anne Ursu (Author of the Real Boy and more.)

And I'm sure there are plenty more but my brain is a bit dead after listing all of those names and what-not!

Any of these Authors/Books sound interesting? Of course they do! Click on the Authors name to be taken to my chosen favorite books GoodReads page!

Have YOU heard of any of these books? Which one is your favorite? Why?

Top Three Thursday--Favorite Ships

Okay, so let's all just pretend that it's not past midnight, and that it's still Thursday, because I mean to post this earlier but...

Happy Top Three Thursday!

*Obnoxious Party Horns*

Top Three Thursday is something I thought up while I was planning out my blog-posts for the next month, and basically it's where, every Thursday, I share a 'top three', whether it be book related, movie related, life related, ect.

And this Thursday's is favorite ships!

(No, not the kind that sail on the ocean.)

This is my favorite ships as in a couple that I ship together/think they were meant for each other/ love it when they're together/squeal the hardest for/explode over/ect, even if they may or may not exactly be canon. Favorite fictional pairing in books, of course, because if we were bringing TV shows into the mix, that would just be overwhelming. I'll save that for another Thursday, shall I?

Now, you have to understand how HARD of a question this is, considering I have SO many ships that I absolutely ADORE--and I have to only choose THREE? Oh the horror! Let's see how it goes!

  • Favorite Ship Number One: After much lamenting, I have finally decided my most favorite-ever pairing is Will and Tessa from the Infernal Devices. They are my definition of perfectly presh. I love their story and their characters together and I explode into little squealing bunnies anytime they're mentioned.

  • Favorite Ship Number Two: You knew it was coming--Leo and Calypso from the Heroes of Olympus. Out of all of the pairings in the Percy Jackson series (Yes, there is a LOT), Leo and Calypso are my all time favorite. Yes, even a bit more than Percy and Annabeth. *Dodges Bombs* But let me explain! Not that I don't ship Percy and Annabeth, and not that I don't think they are adorable and perfect and simply wonderful, but, come on, we've all been waiting FOREVER for Leo to fall in love! At least, I have. Leo is my favorite. I love Leo. There.

  • Favorite Ship Number Three: And last but certainly not least, Cress and Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles. This is my most recent ship, but I mean it when I say I fell hard for these two. Liking them together honestly surprised me, though, because I'd read a lot of Cress/Thorne hate after the release of CRESS last week, and decided to see for myself, and instantly died over them two. I haven't even finished reading CRESS yet, and already they are some of my favorite characters, and my favorite pairing, to ever be created. Most readers think that Thorne is completely out of Cress's league, and he would never fall in love with an innocent little girl like her, but am I the only one who thinks that just makes them MORE perfect? Go read the book and comment your opinion!
And now that my list is done, I need to wish you all a HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, for indeed it is already past midnight!

I hope you all have a wonderful day eating chocolate and falling in love with anything and everything in your life!

What is YOUR favorite fictional pairings from books? Do you ship any of the couples listed above? Why or why not?
